WORLD PEACE ASSOCIATION
PEACE IN OUR LIFETIME

LIBERTY

LIBERTY

Liberty, from the Latin root "libertas," means absence of external coercion.  And we enlightened souls realize that we need to teach our fellow humans about our oldest philosophy of freedom, and how it can free us to pursue peace and prosperity.  As an example how old liberty is, if one google's "liberty" and the "vedas," one gets:

1. Live and let live
2. Liberty is the ideal
3. Any interference in freedom is slavery
4. To oppose tyranny is righteous

Similarly, many philosophers are aware that 6th century Toaist founder Lao Tsu said:

"Get rid of the sage (the ruler at that time) and the rule, and the people will be in harmony."

"The more laws that are passed, the more oppressed the people."

And back West,  the oldest of our civilizations, the Sumerians, used the word for freedom, "amagi," as early as 2300 BC, when the ruler of Lagash issued decrees barring abusive and arbitrary property seizures by the government tax collectors.

A great read on the history of freedom from the Greeks until present day is Murray Rothbard's, "It All Began with the Greeks:"
http://www.mises.org/story/2054.

A great book that describes how to heal our world via libery is Mary Ruwart's "Healing Our World."

A great group uniting people of all persuasions to bring peace and prosperity is FLOW, cofounded by the Whole Foods CEO John Mackey and education pioneer Michael Strong:  http://www.Flowidealism.org.

The goal of the World Peace Association in terms of "liberty," is to educate humanity about the wonderful world we can have - one in which we can more easily pursue peace and prosperity - if we give up our addiction to coercion beyond that which is needed to protect our life, liberty and property from first use of force or fraud.
